That’s one thing Matt Chandler has discovered over the previous 17 years of pastoring The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas. He discovered it by watching Christians in his church undergo. “I learned, from listening to and praying with and watching my brothers and sisters, that in the day of trouble, [God will] be there,” Matt mentioned. “That doesn’t mean the day of trouble’s not a day of trouble. It really is a day of trouble. But that’s where he meets us.”
Matt and Lauren Chandler’s personal “day of trouble” got here in 2009 when, on Thanksgiving Day, Matt collapsed from a malignant mind tumor and was given two to a few years to reside. Regardless of that prognosis, Matt is wholesome as we speak, and he joins me on The Gospel Coalition Podcast to speak about his personal expertise of struggling, which he tells in a brand new e book, Pleasure within the Sorrow: How a Thriving Church (and Its Pastor) Discovered to Endure Effectively (The Good Ebook Firm). Together with Matt and Lauren’s story, the e book consists of 9 different tales of struggling and pleasure informed by members and former members of The Village Church.
