Check Out Two New Bleachers Songs, One of Which Features …Bruce Springsteen? | RELEVANT

Bleachers is back, baby. Jack Antonoff has made his name as one of pop music’s most reliably excellent producers, showing up on everything from Taylor Swift’sfolkloreto the Chick’s comeback albumGaslighter both of which were great. But now he’s returning to the solo project behind some of his generation’s biggest, most soaring rock anthems of all time. And for his return, he’s recruited the guy who wrote the book on big, soaring rock anthems.

Yep, we’ve got two new singles and one of them features Antonoff’s fellow New Jersey native Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen. It’s called “chinatown” and you can hear why the Boss was down to be a part of the song it sounds haunted byThe River-era Springsteen. Bruce even showed up in the music video, which you can watch above.

There’s another single out too, this one called “45.” The song is not, as the name might suggest, about the current President but has far more internal affairs of the heart on its mind it’s posted below. As Antonoff writes:

chinatown starts in NYC and travels to new jersey. That pull back to the place I am from mixed with terror of falling in love again. Having to show your cards to someone and the shock when you see them for yourself. Thinking you know yourself and where you are from Having to see yourself through somebody who you want to stay I started to write this song with these ideas ringing in my head. To further understand who you are pushes you to further understand where you are from and what that looks and sounds like. There are pieces in that that are worth carrying forever and pieces worth letting die. chinatown and 45 are both the story of this chinatown through someone else, 45 through the mirror. As for bruce, its the honor of a lifetime to be joined by him. He is the artist who showed me that the sound of the place I am from has value and that there is a spirit here that needs to be taken all over the world.”

Both of these songs will likely be a part of the next Bleachers album, which is expected to drop sometime next year. Stay tuned.
