Don’t Look Again

Don’t Look Again

“One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

Grief is greater than shedding a liked one. We grieve the lack of something that was essential to us, together with a house, a profession, or our well being. Within the area of some months, I misplaced my mom, then my music profession, my residence of 24 years, and what was left of my well being. I needed to transfer from a small city the place I knew everybody to a big metropolis the place nobody knew me or cared that I may not play the flute and piccolo in a symphony as a result of I didn’t have the breath or the stamina. Nor would they know the locations I held in my coronary heart so fondly, or meet the loving dad and mom I used to be privileged to dwell near for therefore lengthy.

Through the darkish months that adopted these devastating losses, God patiently taught me to not look again. My earlier life was gone ceaselessly. Now I look ahead, towards the tip of my journey and what awaits there, the place my focus ought to have been all alongside. Nothing we do or have on this life lasts ceaselessly; solely our soul is everlasting.

If we hold that one fact in thoughts, it would hold us from wanting again with remorse. That method we are able to eagerly press ahead towards the end line.

Don’t let grief stagnate you. One of the best is but to return. Consider it.

Lord, forgive me for wanting again with longing on the previous as a substitute of conserving my eyes on the end line. Give me the power and self-discipline to persevere in my stroll with you, till my final step. Amen.
