Do you imagine that God is smiling at you?
I usually need to ask believers this query. I usually ask myself.
Does His love really feel like a sunshine of gladness overarching each hour and each determination? Or does heaven look like a darkish cloud able to dump rain at any second?
“My circumstances are not any indication of whether or not the smiling face of God is upon me,” A.W. Tozer writes.
I converse and fellowship and pray with my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I ponder how many people imagine this assertion.
Too usually we take a look at our wants, our hurts, and our troubles, and we interpret them as frowning providences. They fire up questions in our hearts–doubts that God’s favor is towards us.
We marvel if He’s for us or towards us.
“Worry causes me to go searching at my circumstances as a substitute of up on the smiling face of God,” Tozer continues to put in writing.
If we imagine that each ounce of God’s love is behind each circumstance we encounter–seemingly good or unhealthy–then we’ve grasped the message of the cross.
Paul, beneath the inspiration of the Spirit, wrote it greatest:
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
He reminded his readers that no believer resting absolutely within the completed work and righteousness of Christ is beneath any condemnation. God is for us. Although our sins grieve His Spirit, our Savior is interceding on the proper hand of God for us. Regularly.
“There’s subsequently now no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
So why will we see storm clouds as a substitute of His smile? Why will we interpret each wind of bother as a frown?
Why can’t we chill out beneath the smiling face of God?
As a result of deep down, everyone knows we deserve His frown, His again turned our route, His smile turned towards any individual else.
We don’t deserve His smile, and we all know it.
We haven’t earned His favor, and our neighbor is aware of it.
Our pastor is aware of. Our coworkers. Partner. Kids. Roommate.
We don’t deserve the smiling face of God.
The message of the Cross is that this: “God is for us.” (Romans 8:31)
Calm down beneath the smiling face of God.
“I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38,39)
