Silent Fellowship with the Father | Devotional by Charles Spurgeon

“At that time Jesus answered.” Matthew 11:25 (KJV)

This can be a very explicit, and peculiar, technique to begin a verse: “At the moment Jesus answered.” If you’ll have a look at the context you’ll discover that nobody requested Him a query. He wasn’t in dialog with any human being. But it’s written, “Jesus answered and mentioned, I thank Thee, O Father.” When a person solutions, he solutions the one who has been chatting with him. Who, then, had spoken to Christ? His Father. But there isn’t a report of it; and this could train us that Jesus had fixed fellowship with His Father, and that God spoke into His coronary heart so typically, so frequently, that it was not a circumstance of sufficient significance to be recorded.

It was the behavior and lifetime of Jesus to speak with God. Whilst Jesus was -in this world- so are we. So let’s be taught the lesson this straightforward assertion teaches us about Him. Could we likewise have silent fellowship with the Father, so that usually we might reply Him, and although the world is not going to know whom we’re chatting with, we will likely be responding to that secret voice unprecedented every other ear. Our personal ear, opened by the Spirit of God, acknowledges His voice with pleasure. God has spoken to us, allow us to communicate to God, both to set our seal that God is true and devoted to His promise, or to admit the sin of which the Spirit of God has satisfied us, or to acknowledge the mercy which God’s windfall has given, or to specific humble acceptance of the nice truths which God the Holy Spirit has opened to our understanding.

What a privilege it’s to have intimate communion with the Father! It’s a secret hidden from the world, a pleasure with which even our nearest mates can not share. If we wish to hear the whispers of God’s love, our ear have to be purged and fitted to take heed to His voice. At this time, might our hearts be in such a state that when God speaks to us, we, like Jesus, are be ready without delay to reply Him.
