Please open your Bible and browse John 20:1-10

What do you say we’ve got a chat about grave-clothes? Sound like enjoyable? Sound like a cheery matter? Hardly. Make a listing of miserable topics, and burial clothes is someplace between IRS audits and long-term dental care.

Nobody likes grave-clothes. Nobody discusses grave-clothes. Have you ever ever spiced up dinner-table chat with the query, “What are you planning to put on in your casket?”

Most people don’t talk about grave-clothes.

The apostle John, nevertheless, was an exception. Ask him, and he’ll let you know how he got here to see burial clothes as a logo of triumph. He didn’t all the time see them that approach. A tangible reminder of the dying of his finest buddy, Jesus, they used to appear like a logo of tragedy. However on the primary Easter Sunday, God took clothes of dying and made it a logo of life.

Might he do the identical for you?

Might he take what at this time is a token of tragedy and switch it into a logo of triumph?

All of us face tragedy. What’s extra, we’ve all acquired the symbols of tragedy. Yours is perhaps a telegram from the battle division, an ID bracelet from the hospital, a scar, or a courtroom subpoena. We don’t like these symbols, nor do we would like these symbols. Like wrecked automobiles in a junkyard, they litter up our hearts with reminiscences of unhealthy days.

However may God use such issues for one thing good? How far can we go along with verses like Romans 8:28 that claims,

In every little thing God works for the nice of those that love him”?

Does “every little thing” embody tumors and assessments and tempers and terminations? John would reply sure. John would let you know that God can flip any tragedy right into a triumph, if solely you’ll wait and watch.

Might I problem you with a bit train? Take away the phrase every little thing from Romans 8:28 and exchange it with the image of your individual tragedy. For the apostle John, the verse would learn: “

In burial clothes God works for the nice of those that love him.”

How would Romans 8:28 read in your life?

In hospital stays God works for the nice.

In divorce papers God works for the nice.

In a jail time period God works for the nice.

If God can change John’s life via a tragedy, may it’s he’ll use a tragedy to vary yours?
