“My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare” Psalm 25:15
My mother and father used to take us to the coast every summer season. We had been instructed to be cautious of the undertow. My sister and I discover pockets of this delicate quicksand, and at first, it was weirdly intriguing to observe it encompass my toes. Cooler than the encompassing sand, untouched by the solar, it held a wierd sensation. I might really feel the sand particles virtually come alive as they encased my toes. However the longer I stood nonetheless, the extra the sand developed my decrease extremities, up previous my ankles. I used to be caught! I couldn’t wiggle free. I used to be helpless. TALK ABOUT A SAND TRAP!
My eyes scanned for my mom or father as my breaths quickened and the sand crawled larger. When our gazes locked and my father dashed to free me, I sighed in reduction.
An intriguing, not-so-legal scenario, a temptation, a film with iffy scenes will be intriguing. We’re drawn to it. Sure, it is probably not correct or healthful or upright. The Holy Spirit might whisper for us to again off, flip away or watch out…even so…. we enterprise towards the expertise. A bit of it gained’t damage. I’ll simply look ahead to a couple of minutes. Everybody else is doing it, proper?
Then, we’d go deeper, watch longer, change into extra entangled within the deceit. Quickly, we’re caught. This isn’t enjoyable anymore. Two decisions. Attempt to get free on our personal with our eyes solely on the issue as panic begins to gurgle up from our abdomen juices, or…
Increase our eyes and search our Father. Name out to Daddy for assist.
In fact, if we had stored our eyes on Him within the first place, we by no means would have wandered. However no sense going again to woulda, shoulda. As an alternative, it’s best to ask forgiveness, obtain His assist, and transfer ahead whereas holding on to His hand. It might take some time to shake the moist sand from our toes. Actions do have penalties. But when we stroll with our Lord in the way in which He deems, then the undertows in our world will now not be a snare.
Simply as my father splashed sea water on my toes that day to launch the sticky, itchy granules, we will be washed in His waves of mercy.
