Despite Loss, Difficult Days, Kathie Lee Gifford Asserts We Are ‘More Blessed Than We Are Burdened’

Kathie Lee Gifford has had some tough days this year, as she recalled with Jill Martin during an interview on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.

The tv commentator, who is best known for Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, a morning talk show which ran for 12 years between her and Regis Philbin, the former host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

“I lost both of my parents and my husband and dear friends and now Regis this past year, and if I concentrated, Jill, on all the loss My eyes would be filled with so many tears, that I wouldnt be able to even see the great blessing in front of me of a beautiful, cozy blanket, of a glass of wine, of slippers,” Gifford told Martin.

She also opened up about her love life after her husband died in 2015. She says that while she isn’t actively looking for it, she isn’t entirely closed off to the idea. “When people ask me, ‘Are you looking for love?’ my attitude has got to be, well, Im not actively looking for it. I cant go on websites, and you know, dating apps and all that kind of stuff,” she stated.

Even though she has lost so many people, Gifford still says she is blessed more than she is burdened.

“You know, heat in my home. Just my familys health. I mean that were always more blessed than we are burdened. I really do believe that,” she told Martin in the interview.

She then recounted how she met her husband, NFL football player Frank Gifford. She remarked how he caught her eye and was very good-looking. It was while she was working on the set of Good Morning America, at 4 in the morning. “I was supposed to be in that hallway that day; he was supposed to be in that room, putting in contact lenses. We were supposed to be. And Id rather anything that happens in my life for the rest of my life to be organic and authentic that way, too,” she said.
