This week the weblog is sponsored by The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and written by R. Albert Mohler, Jr., President, SBTS.
We stay in an age rightly described as “post-truth.” It’s now modern to talk of “truth” as a socially constructed sentiment or emotion. A type of relativism infects our society, surrounding us with hundreds of thousands of people that fail to appreciate they’re ethical relativists. At a time when reality is extra threatened than ever, we’ll quickly uncover which Christian establishments will crumble and which can take a stand.
In John 17:17, Jesus, in his well-known Excessive Priestly Prayer, asks his Father, “Sanctify them in your truth; your Word is truth.” Christ prayed that the Phrase of God would purify his Church — that the inerrant and infallible Scriptures would make the folks of God a holy folks. That function is our calling, and it’s the beginning place for all theological schooling. At The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, we’re referred to as to the trustworthy stewardship of that reality as soon as for all delivered to the saints.
At a time when different seminaries and establishments try to supply as little, they’ll with a purpose to get the job accomplished most rapidly, Southern Seminary stays decided to do it most faithfully. Greater than the rest, we would like Southern Seminary to be trusted for the duty of making ready women and men for a lifetime of gospel ministry within the midst of an more and more hostile world.
We pray that Southern Seminary will likely be trusted, each on this era and in generations to return. Reality is how God sanctifies Christ’s church. It’s only by reality that the gospel is preached and taught, and consequently believed and heard. If we’re trusted for something, could all these dwelling know that this seminary is set to be Trusted for Reality.
